The World Premiere of the Grand And Arresting SAN ANDRES B. THE OPERA

Tanghalang Pilipino (TP), the resident theatre company of the Cultural Center of the Philippines, started their theatre season strongly and steadily and in the wake of celebrating of the 150th birth anniversary of one of the greatest heroes of our country, they have outdone themselves in the upcoming World Premier of SAN ANDRES B. THE OPERA, from November 29-December 8, 2013  at the Tanghalang Aurelio V. Tolentino, Cultural Center of the Philippines.

On November 30, 2013 , we recall the bravery and heroism of Andres Bonifacio, an underrated hero compared to the highly recognized Dr. Jose P. Rizal.  In this grand and arresting version, is a much-awaited opportunity to open the consciousness of the Filipinos, especially the new generation of the great virtues of a person who made all the difference in our country’s history as he led to the early stirrings in aspiring for Philippine nationhood. This new opera in Filipino delves into the life, love, failures, and successes of Andres Bonifacio. It reveals the secret life of this great hero and how it influenced the movement towards this country’s fight for freedom and independence.

The World Premiere of SAN ANDRES B. (OPERA) creative and production team includes Artistic Director Nanding Josef, National Artist Virgilio S. Almario  as the opera’s librettist, Multi-Awarded Director Floy Quintos, Composer/Musical Director  Josefino Chino Toledo, Choreographer Kris Belle Paclibar-Mamangun, Production Design by Eric Cruz, Costume Design by James Reyes, Lighting/Technical Design by Jay Aranda, Sound Engineer is Aji Manalo.

Leading the cast is Dondi Ong (Andres Bonifacio), Margarita Roco (Gregoria De Jesus), Antonio Ferrer (Emilio Jacinto), Marvin Gayramon (Jose Rizal), Charlene Magalit (Maxima), Malvin Macasaet (Troadio), Mga Pulubi – Terence Guillermo,  Nicolo Ricardo Magno, Jose Herrera, Noe Morgado, Maria – Clariane Avila, Melanie Dujunco, Regina De Vera.   The talented Ensemble includes Kristofer Kliatchko (Aurelio/Koro), Cyril Balderama, Carlo Serrano (Ciriaco/Koro), Liza Marie Nery (Espiridiona/Koro), Mary Katherine Trangco, Lucy Magalit, Em Alcantara, Stefanie Quintin, Aya Tancongco, Pauline Tan, Monique Pereda, Fred De Santos, Jo-Honey Romulo, Kristian Albert Misa, Allen Malumanay, Wes Lipana, Dave Dagta , Jasper Domingo, Mary Kristie Belano, Jermayne Gregorio, Zyda Marie Baaya, Sasa Cabalquinto, Kristine Armea, Matthew Villanueva. The opera performances will have a live orchestra and professional Filipino opera singers and actors.

San ANDRES B. is being done in cooperation with the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) and National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP).

The play will run from November 29-December 8, 2013 –  (Fri) November 29 / 7pm  & December 6 / 8pm, (Sat) November 30 & December 7 / 3pm & 8pm, (Sun) December 1 and 8 / 3pm – at the Tanghalang Aurelio V. Tolentino, Cultural Center of the Philippines.
