In a more serious note, in response to the needs of drought-stricken farmers in Mindanao, the League of Authors of Public Interest Songs (LAPIS) is staging its upcoming LAPIS Night as a fundraising event.
We urge people to please join us on April 30, 2016 for LAPIS Night Alay sa Mga Magsasaka ng Kidapawan, wherein it would be a collaboration with relief organization Citizens’ Disaster Response Center (CDRC) and Monday Space Productions.
More than just a night of music, this evening is a call for solidarity, happening almost a month after the violent dispersal of protesting starving farmers in Kidapawan.
This fundraising event is aimed at raising awareness about the situation of these farmers and gather support for the immediate needs of the severely affected communities.
Join us with more than a hundred fifty musicians and composers who stand with us in a statement of unity for the farmers, we continue to call on the government to heed the just demands of the farmers for food, release of aid, and end to the militarization of their communities.
LAPIS Night on April 30, 2016 will be at the Food Centrale, Matahimik St. corner Malamig St. Event opens at 5PM with a solidarity mural painting activity with visual artist and environmentalist AG Sano.
The fundraiser will feature Bullet Dumas, Xandra Bisenio, Ada Tayao, TJ Abanes, Karl Ramirez and Pordalab, Cornjavalogs, Plagpul, and Jeepney Joyride.
Tickets are available at Php 200 and LAPIS shirts and Mag-alay sa Bayan CDs are also available for purchase. Proceeds will be given to the affected communities coursed through CDRC and their regional centers in Mindanao.
